Rensselaer Station/Albany-Schenectady Track Enhancements

CHA provided engineering design, permitting, and construction inspection services on the Amtrak’s Empire Corridor. The $50 million Rensselaer Station project included a new fourth station track, switch and signal improvements, and high level platform extensions at Amtrak’s 10th busiest station in the United States.

We also worked on a $91 million capacity improvement project that included a new second main track; switch and signal upgrades; and significant grading, drainage, bridge and culvert improvements between Albany and Schenectady. This initiative included an electrical component to provide power for communications buildings, switch heaters, and storage track power.
