WakeMed Soccer Park
Phase I: CHA conducted a feasibility study to add two full-size fields and additional parking south of the existing stadium. CHA also designed the replacement of two natural turf fields with synthetic turf for extended play.
Phase II: CHA designed a new natural turf root zone with a new stone base section. The CHA design team worked with the Town of Cary’s facility team to achieve the scope of work. The existing natural turf field root zone, irrigation, and subsurface drainage were removed. The stone base and root zone mix were increased by 50%, and the underdrain system was upgraded to accommodate a future Sub Air system, which will assist in maintaining a healthy root zone and quick green-up in the spring.
