Tampa International Airport Cargo and GSE Facilities

CHA designed and performed construction administration for new cargo and ground support equipment (GSE) facilities at Tampa International Airport. The two new buildings were designed for 112,200 SF of mixed use with cargo operations, airline provisioning, GSE maintenance, and United States Customs. A portion of the existing airport perimeter road was also rehabilitated, and a new service road connecting the facilities to the airport was designed and constructed.

The new GSE and cargo facilities replaced the existing buildings in a “like-for-like” fashion to maximize the square footage available to tenants while minimizing additional lease costs. CHA coordinated with the HCAA and 14 individual tenants to provide engineering services.

This project involved weekly construction meetings and on-site inspection services. CHA reviewed various construction documents, including RFIs, shop drawings, and pay applications. During construction, the authority requested that we redesign the alignment of the new service road and the rehabilitation of Taxiway Echo. These changes did not affect the construction schedule.
