St. Patrick’s Church -- Watervliet, New York
St Patrick’s Church was closed in 2011 after 122 years of service. The structure, including its 137-foot-tall bell tower were scheduled for demolition to make way for the redevelopment of the site.
CHA was contracted to perform 3D laser scanning services to document the interior and exterior of the structure prior to its demolition. The 3D survey included the basement, main floor and exterior of the church. The resulting 3D point cloud was utilized to generate floor plans, building cross sections and elevation drawings of the existing structure. In addition to the base deliverables, the 3D laser scan data provided us the detail needed to generate historical HABS/HAER drawings of the building’s exterior.
CHA also delivered a 3D Web based viewer that will allow the Church to be viewed virtually after its demolition.
