SR-25/Okeechobee Road Reconstruction
This major project will reconstruct SR-25/US-27/Okeechobee Road using rigid pavement from MP 6.31 to MP 8.146. The project also includes the design of bridges for grade separation of Okeechobee Road over N.W. 116th Place with a T-Bridge for S-E and N-W connections, as well as the design of left turn lane flyover bridges from Southbound N.W. 116th Place to Eastbound Okeechobee Road. Smaller bridges that cross the Miami (C-6) Canal, at N.W. 121st Avenue and at N.W. 116th Way, will also be widened in this project. The Frontage Road (MP 6.310 to MP 8.146) will undergo complete reconstruction and realignment. Aside from the roadway-specific work, the project’s scope includes five new signals, replacing five existing signals, and a new ITS system, drainage system, and lighting system.
CHA was responsible for all design project management and coordination efforts. We developed the roadway geometry and final plans and led the concept and final design for four bridges, drainage, ITS, lighting, utility coordination, and miscellaneous structures. Once constructed, this project will provide significant traffic operations and safety improvements for the interchange and surrounding arterial network.
