INDOT Falls City ITS Modernization

CHA was responsible for the modernization of existing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) facilities and the design/installation of new ITS facilities on 21 miles of the interstate system in the New Albany/Jeffersonville area north of Louisville, which included portions of I-64, I-65 and I-265.

The new ITS facilities feature pan/tilt/zoom closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras with accompanying camera towers and sites, fiber optic cable and conduit for data communications, communications shelters for the housing of communications equipment, and a mix of solar powered and direct powered vehicle detection sites. Existing dynamic message signs and traffic signals are integrated into the network. A communications link established at the INDOT Falls City Subdistrict transfers CCTV and detection data to and from the INDOT Indianapolis Traffic Management Center.
