George H. Mitchell Elementary School

George H. Mitchell Elementary School underwent an onsite replacement to provide students with a new 21st century learning environment. CHA served as the Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) for a new three-story, L-shaped school building spanning 132,045 square feet. featuring a steel frame, concrete-on-metal deck structure, and a blend of masonry, glass, and aluminum skin.

CHA guided the entire process, from the feasibility study through the design, construction, and close-out. In addition, the team assisted the district in securing crucial funding from the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA). The design optimizes internal spaces for education and support services, accommodating 740 K-2 students and up to 240 Pre-K students. The $67.6 million school project, which features an expansive playground and natural outdoor activity area, was completed below the original project budget and on time for the start of the fall 2022 school year.
