CMMC Same-Day Surgery Unit

Two primary nursing stations and sub-nursing stations in the central core provide full visual coverage of patients.

This former ICU underwent a dramatic transformation during its renovation into a 20-bed day surgery suite. The unit, originally built in the 1970s, was re-tooled for new programmatic needs and brought up to current codes and healthcare guidelines. The project also included a 5-bay pre-op holding unit adjacent to the hospital's ORs.

The primary challenge during construction was to minimize disruption on occupied patient floors above and below. The discovery of undocumented utilities prompted responsive creative solutions and contributed to the project’s overall success.
