Cape Cod Transmission Pipeline Replacement

CHA played a pivotal role in the redevelopment of National Grid's transmission pipeline system on Cape Cod involving the replacement of the existing pipeline infrastructure. We provided surveying, engineering, design, and as-built surveying. CHA oversaw the planning and execution of the mid-Cape section's replacement, which spans 16.46 miles. This section involves a 12-inch and 950 feet of 20-inch API 5L PSL2 X52 pipeline with a 270 psig MAOP. Additionally, a 3-mile western segment features a 20-inch API 5L X42 pipeline operating at 585 psig for natural gas transmission.

CHA custom-built a tablet-based integrity management tool exclusively for the project which served as a central hub enabling our survey team to log crucial data like field weld locations, pipe heat numbers, and welder IDs, all linked to GPS coordinates for full traceability throughout the pipeline construction process. Collaborating with the primary contract, RH White, the team successfully created more resilient pipeline infrastructure for Cape Cod residents and businesses.
