Buffalo State College, Houston Gymnasium
CHA performed a study and designed the renovation of the Houston Gymnasium, a 95,000-square foot complex that includes a new fitness center, lockers, equipment upgrades, sports medicine, and updates to the pool and gym. The specific pool improvements include new underwater lighting, several deck equipment upgrades, new Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGBA) compliant main drains, new Duraflex diving towers, and deepening the existing dive well to comply with current National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) dive code. The design also embraces several recirculation equipment upgrades, including an added ultraviolet light disinfection system for secondary disinfection and chloramine control and new salt chlorine generation equipment to convert the school’s existing pool to a saltwater pool.
