Happy Anniversary, CHA!

Posted January 18, 2022

In 1952, John Clarkeson, PE, former Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) administrator, founded Clarkeson Engineering Co. (now CHA) in Boston, MA, and began working on several large interstate highway projects along the east coast. He had high hopes upon the company’s founding, with his aspiration stating: “If we are to do this work … it must create a neighborhood, as well as a highway, that we can live with and be proud of for decades to come.” Since then, CHA has changed and grown significantly, carried different names, and diversified far beyond the primarily transportation projects of the early days, but that sense of responsibility and pride of workmanship have not changed.

As we mark 70 years of building neighborhoods, schools, roads, airports, waterways, bridges, pipelines, and utilities, we celebrate the evolution of Clarkeson’s vision – our current aspiration to responsibly improve the world we live in. Over the coming year, we’ll be spotlighting our seven decades of award-winning projects, happy clients, safer communities, and a firm reputation for excellence and innovation in our industry.

As we observe 70 years of project and design excellence, we thank our employees, clients and many partners for being part of our past success and bright future.
