The New York Aviation Management Association (NYAMA) has awarded CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA) the Phil Brito Memorial Scholarship Fund Award for the Gateway to Monroe County (Rochester International Airport Terminal). Named in honor of Phil Brito, long-time manager of the Federal Aviation Administration’s New York Airports District Office, the Phil Brito Memorial Scholarship recognizes “outstanding achievement in the execution of an aviation-related planning, design, or construction project for airports located within New York State.” All entry fees for the contest are used to fund a student scholarship on behalf of NYAMA and its members.

The $79 million renovation of the Rochester International Airport Terminal involved the reconfiguration of the security checkpoint and airport exit, expansion of the main terminal building, enhancement of the concessions area, implementation of communication technology for the hearing impaired, and a major upgrade of the infrastructure network. Coupled with a stunning new entrance canopy, the project brings a new “front door” experience for the community and visitors to the area and the region, enhancing security and passenger satisfaction while increasing the Airport’s standing in the competitive aviation market of the 21st Century.

The Phil Brito Memorial Scholarship recognition was presented at the NYAMA 2020 fall conference held virtually and in-person on Wednesday, September 16th. CHA shares this honor with airport operator/owner Monroe County, New York; primary contractor LeChase Construction Services; and canopy consultant Passero Associates.
