CHA Team - CANstruction

Team CHA once again created magic at Capital Region CANstruction in Albany, New York, with a design that had visitors grinning ear to ear.

CHA Team - CANstruction PanelHeld in cities across the U.S. and internationally, CANstruction is an annual exhibit and design competition that connects talented architects, engineers, contractors and students to imagine and create colossal structures built entirely out of canned food items.

CHA has participated in Capital Region CANstruction as a builder and/or fundraiser for nine years. CHA’s Alice in Wonderland’s Cheshire Cat, designed for this year’s Disney theme, was created out of 5,169 cans and has 54 distinct layers. In addition to being featured on local news and in the Albany Times Union, the design was awarded the Structural Ingenuity Award.

At the end of the exhibit, all the cans, totaling more than 108,000 pounds of food, were donated to the Food Pantries for the Capital District.
