CHA Aviation Project Awarded NYAMA 2022 Project of the Year

The New York State Aviation Management Association (NYAMA) awarded the 2022 Phil Brito Project of the Year to CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA) and the Westchester County Airport for a significant deicing and drainage storage project protecting nearby groundwater.

Located in Westchester County, about 30 miles north of New York City, the Westchester County Airport is one of the busiest airports in New York State. The Airport selected CHA to develop a system that collects, tests and monitors stormwater runoff at the commercial airport parking apron. CHA also designed several terminal improvements, including four new passenger boarding bridges, Taxiway “A” reconstruction, new enclosed passenger walkways, and electrical and communication upgrades.

The Airport’s commitment to protecting the environment has resulted in a collection and treatment system that effectively safeguards nearby water sources. The terminal apron improvements afford the Airport the capabilities to serve the business and residential communities of Westchester County safely and efficiently.

The 2022 Phil Brito Project of the Year Award is named in honor of Phil Brito, longtime manager of the Federal Aviation Administration’s New York Airports District Office. The award recognizes airport sponsors and their engineering and consultant teams for outstanding achievement in the execution of aviation-related planning, design, or construction projects for airports located within the State of New York. The 2022 award was presented at the NYAMA Annual Conference in Rochester, New York.
