2015 Excellence in Structural Engineering Award

Our Checkered House Bridge widening design-build project has won its 7th award! The National Council of Structural Engineers Associations at the Structural Engineering Summit has awarded the project a 2015 Excellence in Structural Engineering Award. Built after the epic 1927, the Checkered House Bridge is one of only three Pennsylvania trusses still remaining in Vermont. Unfortunately, the historic bridge was structurally deficient and needed to be rehabilitated to accommodate modern transportation loads and widened to allow safe passage of vehicles. In an unprecedented feat, CHA widened the bridge by 12.6 feet with its original superstructure intact.
